[There is a pause before the girl that was in a dozen pieces begins to speak. Her voice is quiet, free of the normal conviction and bravado that she would normally have in such a situation.]

Tell me where I'm needed.

[She has no right to call the shots when this is half her fault.]

Rei-chan! [This would be Eternal Sailor Moon, relieved out of her mind to see Rei alive and talking.] You're-

Thank goodness. [There's a weak smile, but it soon changes to a look of determination.]

I think we have to go. Are you alright?

I'm not sure exactly what you did but seeing as she addressed you by name, it must be your fault.

...That was fast.

[He only just manages to keep his voice steady. The constant alertness necessary for this situation helps keep his mind off of other things.]

[Quietly, with an edge to it.

She'll accept and hold her responsibility for what's happening and she'll allow the city to do what it wants with her after this is done -- but she can't sit back and do nothing.]

You shouldn't be involved. Haven't you done enough already, whatever it is you've done? It would be better to stay out of the way so people can focus less on hating you at the very sight of you.

[She's quiet for a moment or two more before turning on the filter, letting out a long, rattling breath.]

[She stops herself.]

[Mars shoves herself to her feet unsteadily.]

Are any weapons effective against it?

That isn't Aelia or Ekpyrosis.

[Quietly, as she forces herself to remain calm.]

It's something different. Your vision -- ?

[She's busy trying to get the blood and soot off of her legs. It's hard going -- everything still hurts and it feels as if she was shoved back together in far too little time, but Mars ignores the pain, until she feels Ulquiorra's presence, and she looks up abruptly, dropping the rag to stand unsteadily.]

[She doesn't react to the slightly more upbeat statement. She's simply quiet.

She should have known better than to trust optimism over her own sense of intuition.]

I'm going to have to be.

[Quietly.]

[It's lucky that her feed is on voice -- she's covered in her own blood and looks worse for wear and no one needs to see her this way -- but her breath rattles as she draws it in, to steady herself.]

That's why I asked where I'm needed.

[Sensibility goes out the window when you constantly see the people around you die and you're helpless to stop it. But she latches onto the question, and though her voice is just barely shaking, Mars speaks with as much calm and coherency as possible.]

[That's all that matters, right now, though she keeps her feed on voice. She's covered in her own blood. Usagi doesn't need to see that until it's absolutely necessary.]

Where do we need to go?

[Give her orders. She is functioning only because she has to. She has to stop this. But she isn't going to be the one to order people around. Not when this is her fault.]

[The exact place every instinct has always told her not to go: right to the source of the trouble. But this is far from the first time she's had to do so, and there's only a crisp nod as she accepts it.]

Most of the fires, and the other strange incidents, seem to be centered in that direction. [She indicates it by sending coordinates]

[She's silent for a moment or two, because the rush of relief at hearing Usagi alive, and her other friends, is only increased by hearing Hitsugaya's voice, however not okay he might be. She draws in a breath, to keep her voice only barely steady. Two can play this game, see?]

I noticed. So did they.

[Aelia said so, too. What did that even mean? -- don't think about it. Focus on something else. Something asinine. Other than the fact that you've just damned the entire city and your friends are, for whatever reason, still speaking to you -- ]

[Seeing him is clearly not going to help at all, but it's something to ask.]

[Without hesitation or excuses -- and she programs the coordinates into her PCD quickly.]

[The first rule of Animus summoning is don't talk about Animus summoning.]

Rei-chan... [Sailor Moon's always admired that courage, but...]

Tell me the truth, is it alright? You only just came back. Are you really at your best right now? [She can't lose Rei again so quickly. She can't.]

[ -- that gets her to shut up completely, save for her breathing, and it quickens, because he's probably right, and -- ]

My friends don't hate me.

[It's faint.]

[There's a silence.]

I'm going to make this right.

That isn't all that matters! [This argument is now taking place as she's moving, on her way to the location she sent.]

[He just looks... beyond horrified.]

It is what matters, Usagi, this is my fault.

[Her voice breaks, for the barest moment, but she swallows it quickly before she sucks in a breath to get up and move.]
