[The PCD is turned on as it is tossed onto Rei's bedside table with a resounding thunk. The girl doesn't appear all that happy and her eyes look suspiciously bright, but her hair shields her face as she bends down to scoop up whatever had fallen out of her bag.]

[And Rei tosses her bag onto her bed before she pauses in her tirade. Her eyes suddenly grow wide and her breath catches in her throat.

She crosses to the bed and reaches out to the bed, fingers curling around an object. When it's lifted to eye-level, it's shown to be her Mars Crystal Power transformation wand.

The last time it appeared in Adstringendum, it had been during the canon update/backdate event. When she had been given a rush of new memories, when Hitsugaya had lost his limbs, and when Hino Rei and Tsukino Usagi died.

She turns to the PCD to grab it before noticing it's already on. A muscle in her cheek twitches before she exhales slowly, resting her new transformation wand against her cheek, closing her eyes to think before she speaks.]

... Toushirou, you haven't done anything dumb, have you? And girls, have you gotten anything?

[She's quiet for a moment as she packs more wrapping paper into a ball.]

[Yeah suddenly feeling less bad about yelling at Cloud for not understanding Rei's feelings. That was just cold, Cloud.]

What?! He really said something like that?

[The silence should answer that question. Picking up more paper and now beginning to stuff it into a bag she brought along to throw it out.]

Wait! Rei-chan, stop. What did he say exactly?

What I told you. And then he brought up what you said and when I asked about it, he told me to go home. So I did.

[So it really wasn't about what she said. She'd turned out to be right instead.]

I know he wouldn't try to hurt you, but he really can't say something like that!

I don't know, Usagi-chan.

[And Rei finally stops picking up things and leans against the wall with a sigh.]

I was looking forward to it all week.

[Oh, she knows; Usagi is made of that excitement and anticipation. She knows how it feels when those things don't work out as much as she knows the thrill of when they do.]

I'm sorry, Rei-chan. It must have hurt.

Yeah.

[There's not much else to say but agree with it.]

Did you break up with him?

[This would be an odd question if she weren't totally the sort to break up with Mamoru over something petty ~~like not magically knowing her birthday~~ when this was actually hurtful.]

[Eep. That was curt. Usagi gives a tiny wince and quickly starts picking up trash from the floor]

[A heavy exhale.]
