44 [Accidental Video -- > Voice]
[Rei, like so many others, looks mildly disorientated -- after all, she isn't within the Temple of Heaven, but is in a new house entirely. She's sitting on the floor, legs crossed, frowning to herself as she places the events of the week.
She was with Ulquiorra. And she and Hitsugaya -- but then Szayel --
The priestess presses a few fingers to her forehead with a tired sigh, muttering to herself in annoyance.
Until something hits her and she immediately launches for the PCD, not noticing the red light until she has already switched the filter.]
[Filtered to Hitsugaya & Szayel // Private // Unhackable]
Are you okay? Are you still at Kurotsuchi's?

[voice//private//unhackable]
Not so confident in her ability to get there before he's any the wiser, but she has to try.]
Have you gone home yet?
[voice//private//unhackable]
He is, in fact, in the wastes. On top of a rather large rock that could probably perch a dragon.]
I don't want to repeat myself, Hino.
[voice//private//unhackable]
Then don't. You answered my question anyway.
[There aren't any storm clouds, so that's a good sign, at least.]
[voice//private//unhackable]
Nope, no storm clouds. He already vented with Sephiroth. Now he just wants to cool off and sort things out. How's he doing so far, Cloud?]
Hmph.
[Offline]
Don't 'hmph' at me.
[And, with a click of her PCD, she's at the bottom of the rock, looking annoyed.]
Get down from there.
[Offline]
When she arrives, he grimaces down at her. He's tempted, so tempted to ask her why the hell he should, but he bites his tongue. Remember? Better to not say anything. He shuts his eyes tightly for a second before hopping lightly down.]
[Offline]
It also gives her the chance to see that no, Kurotsuchi did not use him for a lab rat. Excellent. Progress.
Rei sits on the ground, with her back to the rock, and gestures for Hitsugaya to sit next to her. She doesn't say anything, not quite yet. Better to gauge how frustrated and annoyed he is before she starts.]
[Offline]
He takes his sweet time, but eventually he joins her against the rock, one knee up with his right arm resting on it. He stares straight ahead, focusing only on his hand where it hangs off of his knee, brows furrows, nose scrunched.
[Offline]
I'm sorry for all the nasty things I said to you.
[She glances at him.]
I really didn't mean any of it.
[Rei pauses.]
-- during the event.
[An amendment; she fully meant what she said to him over the network before coming here. He was an idiot. He needed to shut his mouth. The end.]
[Offline]
[He closes his eyes, still refusing to look at her.]
You're a woman of the highest caliber. Never let anyone tell you otherwise, including me.
[Good luck ever hearing that again, Rei.]
[Offline] 1/2
So Rei waits, for the barest moment, for some sort of follow-up. You know. A 'stupid girl' or 'shouldn't you be doing something better with your time?' or 'why are you even here?', but when it doesn't arrive...]
[Offline]
I won't.
[And her arms are around your shoulders, Hitsugaya, because you're totally getting a hug for that one, whether you like it or not.]
Thanks for sticking up for me even though I didn't need it, stupid.
[Because she's not letting you go and shove her away because of a stupid event, so stop being stupid, stupid.]
[Offline]
He stiffens at the contact, but as she leans in for the hug, he relaxes ever so slightly.]
...You're as mixed up as he is.
[Offline]
... that entire week hurt.
[A pause as she pulls her knees to her chest.]
... it just hurt.
[She doesn't know how else to describe it. How off it felt, but how normal it felt, at the same time.]
[Offline]
[And that's why it hurts.]
[Offline]
We aren't bad people, Toushirou.
[It's a little bit muffled -- her chin is resting on her knees and arms.]
I'm really tired of having to justify myself after ever event where I'm not -- in control. And he doesn't remember anything of who I am or what I've done --
I'm just tired.
[Offline]
...Does he recognize that events can tamper with free will?
[Check it out, Rei? Can you tell the difference between now and how he was acting before? The talk. It's working.]
[Offline]
He doesn't remember Adstringendum, so I don't... know. He used to.
And I'd hope he'd figure it out. He was affected too.
[Offline]
[Offline]
[Oh so very dryly.
But it isn't his fault that she's in a poor mood -- which is saying something, really -- so Rei sighs, stretching out her legs into the snow.
It all leads back to the same problem, really: The Inner City.]
I want to go back.
[Offline]
But that last sentence leads him to much more familiar ground.]
Ah. Before they fall back on another catastrophe like that.
[Offline]
[Simply. No hesitation.
She is tired of waiting for the other shoe to drop.]
[Offline]
[Offline]
But she wrinkles her nose in thought anyway.]
As soon as possible. I don't want to wait for an event that's worse than this one. We're lucky no one died.
