Sorry, Rei-chan. This week has me upset. [She's been using her power to the straining point, and the strain is starting to show in a certain tiredness.] Can someone fix it? Or something?

...The shinigami know about it. They can set up a barrier until it can get fixed properly.

[Toph can, easily, but Zuko just died. So.]

Good. It'll be alright, then. [She trust the shinigami. She may not see eye to eye with them sometimes, but she has a high respect for them. If they're going to set up a barrier, the barrier will definitely hold.]

[Rei has been adopted by the shinigami. She isn't sure whether or not that's a good thing yet, but it's fantastic for connections.]

[It's said rather mechanically -- because she doesn't want to focus on the details. Or what actually happened to Zuko. Because Tyki was fairly honest when she asked.]

[The outburst comes quickly with the horrible thought coupled with the surprise of suddenly learning it. This has not been a good week for Tsukino Usagi learning about her fellow people in Adstringendum.

She lowers her voice.]

[She hesitates, for the slightest moment.]

[Just like Harry had said about Snape, telling her Snape had wanted Sirius dead back in their world and had wanted to kill him, zombie or no zombie.

[It's the only possible answer. She can't believe this will just, continue forever - bitten, biter, a few healed, so many hurt.]

That doesn't make it better. Not when they're still hurt. It doesn't erase what happens.

But, I'm glad at least they do come back.

[Rei still has the scar, from where Aizen skewered her. She will never get it healed or removed.]

But it gives you a second chance.

[Usagi doesn't remember it, which is probably a great blessing.]

Rei-chan, you always say things happen for a reason, don't you? Do you think there's something we're supposed to learn by having those chances?

... everything happens for a reason, but I don't always know what that reason is.

You can always learn from your mistakes -- and from other people's mistakes, too, though.

Hey, Rei-chan... if you see Fran especially... You can hold him still until I can get there, can't you?

[They've done it before, Rei keeping the person immobilized until they can be helped. And Usagi feels terrible that after all her searching and running, Fran still outpaced her and vanished.]

... yeah. I'll keep an eye out for him.

Thank you. [This is where she'd squeeze Rei's shoulder, if they weren't over this frustrating voice connection that makes her worry. Her head has been so full of Fran in particular - looking for him that night, wondering if he's alright.]

Hey, Rei-chan, by the time we go home, everything we have to do there will be easy. [It's a terrible attempt at levity.]
