[The PCD turns on by landing on the soft wet ground with a 'thunk'. All you see is grey skies and the distant sunrise -- and a pair of hands picking up the device with a soft huff of annoyance.]

The last thing I need is this stupid thing getting broken...

[Oh, hello, Adstringendum. Hino Rei has landed. And she looks unharmed, for the most part, save for a cut on her hand and looking somewhat tired. But what else is new, really? Sleeping isn't exactly easy to do in this place.

She purses her lips as she dusts mud off of the screen, a thumb running over the camera, which shuts it off.]

The only people in this city with the power to do anything like that are the angels and they're affected, too. It isn't anyone in the city -- it has to be the Animus.

[She thought of it, when the event first started, but Unohana quickly shot down the instinctive blame.]

People didn't have much luck trying to go to the Inner City during this, either. We'll have to try something else to make them give it back.

[The underlying question being 'and do they have a death wish?']

I only heard about it later. They thought maybe, there was a tiny chance the Animus lost their powers, too. But they didn't. [Even more proof it's them behind it, really.]

[She looks annoyed.]

People need to stop doing stupid things without planning -- why would anyone but the Animus be behind this? It doesn't make any sense to think the Animus would lose their powers -- they're all lucky they're not dead.

I know. You're right. But right now we need to think about how to return our powers first.

They've always come back when we've needed them before.

I know. That fixes us, but -- that's not going to help the shinigami or the angels. I don't know how their powers work or if they've ever lost them before --

[Hnnnng. It's mostly Toushirou she's worried about. Hyourinmaru not being here is hard on him.]

[And they've been patient too long; she knows. But they still have no concrete idea to get the powers back.]

I wish Ami-chan was here. She'd know what we could do.

I'm ready to just go to the stupid city.

[A tiny huff and she crosses her arms.]

But at least I've been to the center. I know better what to expect than those idiots.

Rei-chan! [She's torn between laughing and scolding.] You can't just call them that! They thought there was a good chance.

Anyway, let's go, then. Let's take a few days to get ready, and go.

What should do to get ready? [She's pretty determined on this; she's promised people, just like Rei has, that this won't be allowed to stay like this.]

We need to figure out a way to get past the dinosaurs without getting ourselves killed without our powers.

[She stops herself before asking about using Fran's illusions as distractions: No powers. More, equally impossible, ideas occur to her.]

We need to lure them away. Are any of us fast enough if they chase us? They're robots, right, so if we lead them to the river or something...

[Short circuit.]

When Ulquiorra and I fought them, they were pretty fast, and we beat them -- but we had our powers.

[But more importantly:]

Toushirou lives right next to the river.

What about Haruka-san or Fran? [The two fastest people she knows here, powers or not; Fran had been quick even as a zombie and Haruka is Haruka.]

Haruka is a good bet -- and Fran...

[She's quiet for a moment.]

I can ask Fran -- he's been really into researching the Inner City.

Mm. I don't like asking them to do even more, but they're the fastest. If they made a diversion, they'd have the best chance of outrunning the dinosaurs.
