75 [Accidental Video]

[Rei is sitting in her fire reading room. She hasn't left it very often since the memory event ended, somewhat obsessed with trying to see glimpses of home through the flames. That and the warmth and fire is a comfort to her -- so she may as well get whatever work she needs to get done finished inside.

For tonight, she has a pile of clothes in front of her that she is mending -- and not only mending, but adding lining to for winter. She has a pile of finished folded clothes to her right -- a coat or two for Minako and Usagi, a longer jacket for Michiru, and she's currently working on dismantling Castiel's coat in order to add lining to it, to ensure he doesn't freeze to death when the snow actually starts. Youma, her cat, is on a pile of untouched clothing, watching Rei with his large blue eyes, tail flicking in boredom.

The needle flashes quickly, in and out, and shows Rei frowning in concentration before the feed ends.]

[Usagi slips into the room and, for once, is quiet as she stays with her back to the wall. She smiles at Rei.]

Hey. Thanks for doing this. Do you want some help?

[She's here to talk about last week.]

*Rei will sense a very familiar darkness outside as Ulquiorra stops by to drop off a small pile of cloth and whatever soft materials he's happened to come across. Unless she runs out to catch him as soon as she senses him, though, he'll be gone before she can see him.*

[Last week was horrendous -- or, well, it wasn't. It was waking up and realizing the Animus had yanked part of her away that was the horrendous part. But Rei was trying not to think about it -- hence brainless activity.]

Ah -- no problem. Someone's got to make sure we don't all freeze to death.

[And Rei pushes Youma off of the clothes gently.]

Sure, if you want -- you can sort through that stuff.

Rei is on her feet to look outside the window, blinking at the energy. She catches a glimpse of Ulquiorra and grins a little, sliding open the window to say hello -- but the Arrancar is gone before she can manage it.

Stupid.

so, instead, she sends him a text:]

Come back here.

No, I'm performing witchcraft.

[The vicious 'rip' of a seam. Cas' coat is getting a makeover.]

If that were the case, then I wouldn't be asking questions, now would I?

[Stiiiill curious as ever.]

Winter is really cold here. I was just adding lining to some jackets and mending them from last winter.

[And sealing protective seals into Cas' coat so demon whores can't molest him nbd.]

Mm. [She nods, and sits down cross-legged to start sorting, right on the floor, chattering as she works.]

Minako-chan's here now. And Michiru-san is back to normal, too. She remembers us now again.

Yeah, I know. The orange one is for her.

[Rei gestures to a coat she found before ripping out another seam.]

-- and yeah. I remember everything now, too.

[Bit of a realization here.]

...I can't just go to the mall and buy a jacket.

I've never even owned a heavy jacket before.

[Give up. Your seals are useless against Jinx.]

[ . . . ]

[SIGH.]

Do you need one?

[Because Jinx doesn't need anything. Ever. Especially not from Rei.]

I...I'll just stay inside! By my fireplace. Where there's no snow.

So it's not as bad now. Rei-chan, we've fought a lot of hard battles, here and back home.

Don't let them change being glad for the peaceful times.

So you're going to sit inside for four months and not see anyone or do anything.

[Somewhat dryly. And then she pauses, and a moment of trolling occurs to her, and she flips on the video feed.]

Come on, I can give you this one --

[And she holds up Castiel's trenchcoat, which she's in the middle of mending and lining.]

I can make it fit and dye it pink. No one wears it anyway.

... it's not that I'm not grateful.

[She frowns down at the coat, working on another seam.]

But I'd rather fight through it with my memories than be blind and peaceful without them.

[THE MOST APPALLED FACE FOR SO MANY REASONS.]

[Oh, what's that? A blinking message? It must be something super important --

... nope, guess not.]

I so recognize that coat and he probably stole it off a hobo and it probably smells like sweat, piss, and boring.

[She throws her nose up in the air and crosses her arms.]

I'll just spend four months inside with Lucifer. [WHAT NOW, REI.]

I think he stole it off a tax accountant, actually.

[Musing as she looks down at it. IGNORING YOUR THREAT COMPLETELY.]

[THAT IS THE SOUND OF YOUR ANGEL STOMPING INTO THE ROOM. Which isn't very loud since he doesn't really stomp but you know.]

Rei. What are you doing to my coat?

[He's sure they've talked about this.]

[NO. SHE WILL NOT BE IGNORED.]

Four whole months alone with Lucifer. All the things we'll plot. All the wicked things we'll do. Evil, horrible things.

It's perfectly fine. Rei washed the blood out of it.

[SO THERE.]

*He stops on a roof somewhere when he notices the text and sends off a quick reply.*
