[Rei is sitting at a table, carefully writing out talismans on thin white strips of paper. Where she got the ink and brush is anyone's guess, but the work appears all-encompassing and extraordinarily important to her. After three or four minutes of concentration, the priestess glances at the video and smiles -- it appears clear that she has turned it on on purpose.]

I guess everyone is back to normal after last week and all of the animal friends have gone back to wherever they belong. The spirits here aren't exactly the nicest group around.

[Here, she pauses, as if reminded of something, and her expression grows more serious.]

Does anyone know if there's a temple in Adstringendum? A Shinto temple. If there is, can you tell me where it is?

It's good to be close to your family and be able to depend on them.

Mmhmm.

[Rei's expression flickers for a moment, because family wise, she hasn't got much to speak of... but her smile is back in place in a second.]

Do you have a family?

I do. My parents have been gone for a while now, but I still have my seven siblings at home.

[Again, he says this as if it's completely normal to be one of EIGHT CHILDREN.]

I don't even have one sibling! How do you have room for them all?

Seven. Five brothers and two sisters.

We're an aristocratic family, so the estate is roomy enough.

Oh, well, that makes sense, I guess... it must be nice to have such a big family.

It has its ups and downs, of course, but I do love them, very much.

[And misses them. It's been over a year since he last saw them.]

I guess it's the same amount of ups and downs that a single kid has, I guess.

I would guess. I can't imagine being an only child, of course. It's such a foreign thought for me.

It's pretty boring.

[Aww, that's right, poor Uki... Rei wouldn't want to piss off Rinoa.]

Would you think that after spending a week with younger siblings who are going through their teething stage? Treasure everything you have, even if it is peaceful to the point of boredom.

I like kids, though... but living with that must get tiring after awhile. -- and oh, I do appreciate what I have, but it would've been nice to have a sister or something.

[And now she's got four of 'em. Sort of.]

Like I said, it's a blessing and a curse. At least I have work to keep me occupied most of the time, though going home is always something I look forward to.

Well, as long as you look forward to it, that's all that matters.

Maybe sometime we can have tea and you can show me your bonsai tree?

[A little piece of home, however small, would be extremely wonderful.]
