Yes, it is one of the names for the goddess Tiamat, as well as the name of one of the Greek Horae, associated with spring..

[She sounds ridiculously pleased.]

[She didn't answer his question but he lets it go for the moment because she sounds so happy, and that makes him happy. He gives a tentative smile, before remembering his question again.]

Why did you ask?

[She's still not quite used to seeing Castiel smile, but him smiling is definitely a good thing, especially with all of the constant stress he's been under lately. So Rei returns it earnestly, before realizing Castiel had asked her a question.]

The Animus said a name, during the last raid -- Thalatte. Toushirou was researching what it meant. I thought I'd ask you.

[That catches his attention. He'd missed most of the fallout and information from the last raid due to clashing with both Lucifer and Raphael in such short order right in the same time period, and had therefore not heard about this.]

They gave a name? For themselves or something else?

For themselves.

[Hence excitement.]

[Oh, this is interesting.]

When I last spoke with them, they said they were many beings. Perhaps Thalatte is one of the parts.

That's what we're thinking -- but why pick out that name?

Unless that's what they are.

Beings may take names that aren't theirs simply for what they represent.

[Rei is cursing her lack of knowledge about the Greek mythos, but she supposes that's what Cas is for.]

What else can you tell me about Tiamet?

Tiamat is a Babylonian mother goddess of both the sea and chaos. Myths and legends vary in regards to her and she is likely different across worlds.

[Seas and chaos.]

[She sounds thoughtful, distracted.]

Why that name? Why that goddess?

She was a mother goddess, and according to most legends created other gods. She also is credited with the creation of many monsters, particularly those of the sea.

[Rei looks thoughtful -- before she closes her eyes slowly to think. Something about what Castiel said was bothering at the back of her mind -- some vague connection that was dying to pop out at her --

She's silent, for a good three or so minutes, before her eyes snap open.]

[This is said as if this is the most important piece of information Rei has ever discovered in her entire life.]

[He watches the feed with curiosity when she closes her eyes, wondering what she's doing, and just waits patiently for her to finish with it. When she finally does, and she speaks, he's surprised.

That was... Potentially very important. His eyes light a bit at the connection, wondering if this was indeed a piece falling into place.]

[Says the girl who can't swim and uses... fire. But Rei pushes aside the problems for now to focus on what's really important -- it's a connection. It's a long-shot and it makes absolutely no sense, but it's a connection.

And, more importantly -- her voice becomes a little quieter, but more serious, because she really does not want to say the next part, because the Animus scare her in ways that nothing else can -- but -- ]

And I need to get inside the Inner City again.

I will go with you, if you'd like. My abilities may be of more use than yours in such a situation.

[He tilts his head slightly at her last comment; he can tell she's shifted tone, but not entirely sure why.]

You should wait until we have made our attempt and have our own findings before returning once again.

['We' being the angels, of course.]

[Rei opens her mouth to say that her abilities are just fine, thank you very much, stupid angel 8|, but she pauses at Castiel's advice.]

...I've been to the center. You haven't. For all you know, you guys could be turned mortal, and the dinosaurs would kill you in a heartbeat. How many of you can defend yourselves without your powers?

[She doesn't wait for the answer, though:]

I've been there. I know what to expect.

[Aaaand then:]

Take me with you.

Anna and myself have both been mortal, and are capable of taking care of ourselves without our abilities. We'll watch over the others.

[And by 'others' he means Gabriel. Powerless the other archangels are not only useless, they're still dicks, and if Lucifer got eaten by a robot dinosaur Castiel would probably still be laughing when they all got back out.

...And what did she just say?]

Yes, because that won't be suspicious at all.

[Congratulations, Rei. Sarcasm.]

[ -- oh, hey, Rei didn't know Castiel could use sarcasm -- ]

You can't take care of yourselves against a bunch of robotic dinosaurs that explode and are programmed to rip your face off.

[And while Rei is sharing the same line of secret thought as Cas is, she still doesn't want Gabriel to be eaten because he's ~~dumb~~ not exactly a warrior.]

And even if you do somehow survive the first wave, you won't make it to the center -- not without knowing the way and not without preparing yourselves for what you'll see. The Animus will drive you insane if you don't know what you're doing.

[Not that she does. At all. But she made it to the center. And it was horrific. But she hadn't had the time or wherewithal to ask questions. She had let herself be sucked into the visions. Now she knows better.]

I want to ask them questions, in person, and I won't be able to get close enough alone.

[Pause.]

And if you don't let me go, then I'll just pull together my own team and go by myself.

[He can when it's called for, and right now it is because he's wondering if Rei misplaces her sense when he wasn't looking.]

Actually I'm quite certain we can manage. If the rest of you were powerless when you faced them as well, and still won, then we should have little issue. We'll manage.

[If there was one thing his jerk family wasn't, it was stupid. Each of the angels was quite capable on their own with just their wits, and many of the six present were particularly good in this area.]

We're prepared for that, as well. And again, some of you made it into the center, didn't you? Why do you believe we couldn't?

[He doesn't bother pausing himself when he gives his answer.]

Then do so. You are not coming with us.

Because you guys aren't used to being weaker than something else -- and the Animus are going to use that to their advantage.

[It's flat and to the point. She ignores the final decision -- it's what she expected, but she couldn't not ask. As much as she'd love to see Lucifer be trapped in the Inner City -- and Raphael too, by this point -- she doesn't want to see Anna, Gabriel, and Castiel suffer the same fate. Or Michael, Rei admits grudgingly to herself, even if he was a moron.

But Rei averts her eyes, to think, before she answers his question fully.]

If you make it to the center, they're going to force you to see everything you don't want to see. Every person that you care about, every thing you ever wanted, is going to die in front of you, every thing you're afraid of --

Or, at least, that's what they showed me.

The archangels aren't used to being weaker than something else.

[He is. He's a great deal weaker right now, even. Getting creative to overcome a problem is what he does best. He tilts his head slightly when she begins speaking again, listening carefully. He feels something he's pretty sure is sympathy, though he rarely feels it, as he wishes she hadn't had to go through something that had obviously bothered her so much.

But his answer is somewhat cold, in contrast.]

There is very little they could show me that I haven't already seen.

You don't know that.

And if those things are as powerful as gods, it could be worse this time around.

We will find out, then.

She better not have to come get your stupid self because the other angels decided to leave your ass behind. 8|
