69 [Accidental Video] Forwarded to early morning.

[The PCD turns on by landing on the soft wet ground with a 'thunk'. All you see is grey skies and the distant sunrise -- and a pair of hands picking up the device with a soft huff of annoyance.]

The last thing I need is this stupid thing getting broken...

[Oh, hello, Adstringendum. Hino Rei has landed. And she looks unharmed, for the most part, save for a cut on her hand and looking somewhat tired. But what else is new, really? Sleeping isn't exactly easy to do in this place.

She purses her lips as she dusts mud off of the screen, a thumb running over the camera, which shuts it off.]

[Usagi just stares, that stare that means she's been worried out of her mind and had no idea if it was going to end well. The stare that she gives the senshi after the hard battles - Rei knows them, and knows the stare.]

Rei-chan! Are you alright? Where were you all this time?!

[... Usagi is out of bed as the sun is coming up. What. Is this voodoo magic witchcraft nonsense.]

... I went for a walk.

[As if she's been sleeping when she still hasn't found Rei and neither has anyone else she organized to help her look.]

A walk for days?! What kind of walk is that?!

[Guess who's already moving to come find you, Rei?]

Where are you?

[... now she's confused.]

What are you talking about? I left this morning --

[Why are you even running, Usagi.]

But I'm coming home, I don't -- what's going on?

[In her relief, she lets go even as she keeps running.]

You disappeared! For days and days. I had everyone help look and no one could find you! They all said you must have gone home!

[And right after Michiru left. It was painful, Rei. More than she can even say it was.]

[Days?]

-- I didn't go home.

[She sounds lost and uncertain.]

I'm in Adstringendum. I've been here for a year. I remember everything. I just... went for a walk to clear my head -- I've been gone for days?

[At that, she finally manages a smile, tense still but so very relieved.]

I knew you were still here.

[Her eyes widen as she realizes what she's said.]

I didn't mean I want you to be trapped here! It's just...

[She needs Rei. Always.]

I'm glad I don't have to be without you. It's alright now!

[This entire business is freaking her out, but if she's here, and she didn't forget, then -- it's fine, isn't it? Right?

Except it's really not and Lord knows what happened in her absence, but she pushes that aside to offer a small smile.]

Everyone would know if I were gone for good. I just... went for a walk on the outside of the wall this -- last? --

How long have I been gone?

It's been about a week. We kept looking.

Ah! And I took good care of Youma for you! Hanna helped me out.

A -- week?

[Oh. That... explains why Cas was surprised she remembered who he was. She looks stunned, for a moment, not quite absorbing what Usagi said about her cat.]

[It was her way of doing something for Rei while she was gone, since Rei had been worried when Youma disappeared beforehand.]

A week. But it's alright now!

[She may be trying to convince herself. And here she comes into view, clicking off the feed and cutting off whatever else she might have said.]

Rei-chan! Come on, let's hurry home. I'll make dinner even!

How could I have been gone for --

[But the feed is cut off and she's now speaking to Usagi in person. She stops for a moment before shaking her head, to get a grip on the situation.]

Usagi...

[A week -- or so?]

Our powers are still gone?

They are. But we'll get them back. I promise. We'll start working on it right now.

[She was worried for Rei first.]

[There's an aggravated hiss as she crosses her arms across her chest. Ten days -- plus the week or so before -- nearing three weeks.]

What if it's a punishment.

[Rei hadn't wanted to consider it, but Gabriel and Toushirou said it first, at least.]

[But a punishment for what? Interfering with the Animus?]

I don't think so, Rei-chan. It's too different. It's gone on too long. I'm not sure if the Animus are the ones doing it.

[Gabriel certainly seems to think so.]

What else in this city has the power to do something like that? It can't be anyone else but the Animus.

What if it was a lot of people together? Power is always even stronger if people are combining theirs together.

No one in this city has any power, Usagi.

Unless they're hiding it.

[She's off the mark, of course - but it's not hard to see how someone might be drawn to an idea like it.]

But they'd probably have done something with it by now. You're probably right.

The only people in this city with the power to do anything like that are the angels and they're affected, too. It isn't anyone in the city -- it has to be the Animus.

[She thought of it, when the event first started, but Unohana quickly shot down the instinctive blame.]

People didn't have much luck trying to go to the Inner City during this, either. We'll have to try something else to make them give it back.

[The underlying question being 'and do they have a death wish?']

I only heard about it later. They thought maybe, there was a tiny chance the Animus lost their powers, too. But they didn't. [Even more proof it's them behind it, really.]

[She looks annoyed.]

People need to stop doing stupid things without planning -- why would anyone but the Animus be behind this? It doesn't make any sense to think the Animus would lose their powers -- they're all lucky they're not dead.
