[She looks like she's fighting down the urge to do something incredibly stupid. Her solution, whenever she wants to do something incredibly stupid, is to talk to someone who can talk her out of it. She can't ask Usagi, because it would mean admitting something to her that she simply cannot afford. She hung up on Castiel. Ulquiorra wouldn't quite understand. So that leaves her annoyingly brilliant shinigami bestie.]
I need to ask you something, and I need you to be honest. Please.
[She pauses, almost -- uncomfortable, before she just spits it out.]
What do you do to stop feeling helpless?
[Because he is the only person who will both understand how she feels and give her perspective on how to stop feeling it.]

But he still doesn't have a solution to give her.]
...You really need to know?
[He leaves it at that, frown deepening. He already knows the answer, but he's still looking for the right wording for his own answer.]
Or maybe she's just overthinking it.
Rei chews on the inside of her cheek before she gives a quick nod.]
Yeah, I do.
Break something. Or somethings. Until you're satisfied.
Then put them back together. Or make something better.
[It's a little embarrassing to say it, frustrating, and it only works on those special days you can actually succeed in replacing what's lost. But aside from "killing Mayuri," "invading the inner city," and "planning secret underground explorations with annoying frogs," it's all he's got.]
... I already broke my table.
[She fiddles with the ends of her hair with a frown, smoothing them between her palms.]
But I also lost it on Cas and I can't make what I want to make better any better.
Then fix the table.
[Because that one's doable and Castiel can always use some more suffering, it's not a big deal. Also, maybe all the time it takes to actually fix the table will give her time to think about a solution to the second problem.]
-- Allen's going to die.
[She crosses her arms across her middle.]
Because of Lucifer. I can't stop it.
Oh.
Joy.
What can he say to that? Point out the fact that she's never been able to stop Lucifer? That won't help. Cover it all up with some degrading comment about Walker's uselessness? That will probably just make her feel angry and helpless.
The answer comes to him in the form of a question.]
Why, exactly, is Walker going to die?
[She's furious. You can see it, in how she holds herself. The way her fingers dig into the ground abruptly, how her teeth clench, the slightest narrowing of her eyes as she attempts to restrain herself from saying or doing something incredibly insensitive and stupid.]
Anyone who takes something as powerful as Lucifer's being inside their body dies.
[It's a question that could probably be worded with more tact, but he's leading somewhere, dammit, and he's really hoping that it just falls in place.]
If Allen dies while Lucifer is inside of him, he would need another vessel. An angel without a vessel inside the city would vaporize a chunk of it. Even looking at them when they aren't in their vessels causes people to go blind.
...That's -- why he's there in the first place. Because his vessel was damaged.
[Something Rei helped do. Stupid.]
Does the vessel have to be human?
[Oh, hush. If all of you actually regretted it, you'd stop talking to the baddies so often.]
[She doesn't know for certain, but Allen has Neah within him, who isn't... strictly human.]
[Her fingers are massaging her forehead, now.]
Otherwise I would've given him a slug.
[It's not a question, but despite how badly he tends to think of Allen Walker, it's not accusing either. It's only a statement.
This explains the feeling of helplessness though. There isn't a plausible way around this that is even remotely ethical unless they can get him back into his old vessel.]
How "damaged" is the old vessel? There are people here who can quickly repair plenty of injuries. Someone must have thought of that by now.
Damaged, but it'll still deteriorate. I guess he's going to switch between Allen and Nick -- his old vessel -- until a permanent solution is found.
[But the only permanent solution is Sam Winchester, or at least that's what's been explained to her, which is out of the question. And this constant transfer of angelic force will only kill Allen and Nick, though Nick is apparently a mindless puppet driven insane by the immense power of Lucifer residing within him for so long.]
... the only way to kill him is with an archangel blade. And trapping them in holy fire to keep them still.
[But it's something of a half-hearted suggestion. Trapping Lucifer in holy fire had backfired horribly and there was no chance in hell that Rei would be able to steal Gabriel's sword.]
[Kurotsuchi and Satan? The very concept makes him want to puke. But none-the-less, it's a possible solution.]
-- would he actually do that?
[The 'for us' is silent. Kurotsuchi loathes Hitsugaya's existence and she, as one of his best friends, is also not exactly high on his list of people to give favors to.]
[His expression blanks out for a second before he adds more, rather monotone.]
It would be best if someone else requested it though.
[It's clear she's not very happy about said option, but she'll look into it just as much as any other workable option to save Allen from being burnt out from the inside.
... but she sighs.]
Probably. ... yeah.
[Just throwing that out there. Accommodating the bad guys is getting really old really fast. The moment he gets the chance, he's freaking death charging.]
Thanks.
[He seems the slightest bit hesitant a moment during the sentence, pausing for just a second after the first word, lips forming a tight, thin line.
It's a lot to ask when he doesn't always do the same.]
[It isn't a lot to ask from her. She only keeps things from Hitsugaya when she absolutely has no other choice. Besides, keeping him informed means she can't keep it all to herself, which will help preserve her own sanity as much as help the city.
She has perfect faith that he can always help her.]
[He nods, and that's that. Hino wouldn't lie like that.]
