82 [Accidental Video]

[There's a soft 'thump' and a spray of white as Rei drops backwards into the snow, her PCD falling at an odd angle. The contrast between Rei's dark hair and the white snow is pretty startingly, enough so that you can actually see it in the dark that is the Adstringendum night. She has on a coat, and a red scarf, and you can see her breath, just faintly, forming in the air, as she stares at the stars.

It's been a long week. Sometimes, all you need is a few minutes just to relax.]

Rei sounds positively lazy.]

No. I'm just looking at the stars.

Why?

Because you can see Mars if you're lucky.

[Dryly.]

Are you bored already?

I'm not stupid. And I've heard a lot about you.

[Pause.]

I'm pretty sure the words used were 'irreverent' and 'annoying'.

I'll have to thank whoever's been singing my praises, even if it seems they're a few notes off.

I'll pass it on.

[She sounds slightly amused.]

[ there's a pause. ]

Have you any objections if I were to stop by in passing? I've something to discuss with you.

I don't feel like roasting anyone alive today.

[That's a 'no objections here', Balthazar. And there's the sound of her getting up, as she dusts off her clothes from snow.]

You won't be able to find me using your powers, so -- I'm at the Temple of Heaven. Use the coordinates I sent you earlier. I'm just outside the grounds, so you should be fine to fly over.

[ it takes him a few moments, but balthazar does arrive. his coat is drawn tightly around his vessel, less out of necessity and more out of ingrained habit--balthazar is ever the most human of his brothers, the one who passes the easiest for something he is not, and it is because of little things like this, the traits and habits he's picked up through observation and association. ]

Shall we make small talk, or should I get right to the point?

[She turns before he talks -- feeling him, rather than seeing him, offering something of a thin smile at his question. Her hands are tucked into her pockets of a jacket that is far too big for her, as is the custom for tiny girls in an apocalyptic wasteland, but she looks totally at ease, even though she looks unassuming.]

I won't tell you everything, and if you try to read my mind, I'll make your life way more difficult than it has to be.

[Somewhat evenly, though she does step forward.]

But go ahead. Ask your questions.

I may be a cad, but I'm not unnecessarily invasive.

[ and he doesn't particularly care what thoughts she has tumbling through her head. not yet, at least. ]

I understand Castiel and my dear eldest brother are getting on here.

[ that little revelation had knocked the wind out of balthazar's sails. lucifer was...well. hardly trustworthy, even here. ]

[It's obvious by how Rei arches her eyebrows that she wasn't expecting the topic. But at the silent question, her shoulders relax.

She would rather talk about Lucifer than her vision of Purgatory.]

He is.

[Quietly, though the girl pauses.]

But I'll douse Lucifer in holy fire again and watch him burn before he touches him.

[It's also obvious that Rei makes no secret of how much she loathes Lucifer.]

[ there's a pause while balthazar absorbs this. ]

So you don't trust him with Castiel.

[ she's smart. balthazar can appreciate that, at the very least. ]

And I assume Castiel only thinks the best of him?

[There's the slightest twitch of her lips -- a half a frown as Rei slides her hands deeper into her pockets, to keep warm.]

Well, if he did that, I guess he would be stupid.

[And Rei inclines her head toward the Temple.]

The guy reading in my library certainly isn't stupid. He's actually really smart. Way too smart to let Lucifer work him over into thinking he's a good person.

[The girl pauses.]

Lucifer's tried to kill me too many times for him to ever think he's a good person.

[It's conceited, but Rei knows, full well, that Castiel would choose her over Lucifer in a heartbeat.]
