[She pauses before sighing, cleaning off her hands again to push herself up, sitting on the edge of a chair near the wall.]

[That makes it Usagi's turn to kneel on the floor, scrubbing at a few stubborn spots.]

Is any of Michiru-san's paint left...?

[She has a sinking feeling the answer is no; there hadn't been much to begin with somewhere like here.]

I think I used the last of it to try and reinforce the warding around the Temple.

[She frowns as she sinks back into her chair.]

It's fine if it's showing.

We can find something to hang over that spot sometime.

[And....]

Where's the trash? There's a few pieces of the jar here still.

[She supposes she could paint something to go over it or... something, but she doesn't quite have the energy to think of what.]

Don't worry about it! [She flashes a quick smile. With the mess mostly picked up now, she throws the shards in the trash, and sits on the bed beside Rei.]

[She glances over at Usagi before heaving a sigh, a headache forming.]

The same things he always does. Just... pointless digging underneath my skin with things he knows will tick me off, and then I tell him to leave me alone, and then he keeps talking at me, and then it gets into a fight, and I wind up being the bad guy.

[So in other words, it's just a cheap trick like the Sailor Zoisite Moon? Yeah, seen it, done it.

However, she knows one thing for sure.]

You're not the bad guy. Sometimes you have a horrible temper, and you're never nice, and you're a tyrant... [Usagi... are you trying to help or hurt?]

But all of that is because you care about people. And if you get into an argument with him, it's because you care about the things he's bringing up, too. That's not a bad guy at all.

[Her lips twitch, slightly, at the insults, but she listens quietly.]

No one else sees it that way.

[It wouldn't be right if she didn't tease. But she will always, always believe in Rei and see it that way - even if no one else does. Right now, she names others who do, too.]

Hitsugaya believes in you. Castiel, too. Your friends, all of them believe in you. Even if you argue with them.

Castiel is the one that told me I should know better.

[Well. Not in as many words. And in fairness, he told Lucifer much the same. But you don't quite listen to sense when you're pissed off.]

[That must have hurt, coming from someone so close.]

He might not have been sure how to deal with it, either.

[She's not arguing that they shouldn't; feelings rule her and she won't tell someone else theirs are wrong. But she's curious why this is what gets beneath Rei's skin.]

[She's silent, for a long moment at the question -- not because it requires a lot of thought, but because she's surprised by it. It should be obvious, shouldn't it?]

Because he wants me to believe that I'm a coward, and useless, and helpless, and I won't let him.

Exactly. [She smiles.] So that's all you need. You just need to hold on to that. Because you're none of those things.

Do you mean you feel it with your spiritual sense? That could mean he's really doing something dangerous.

[She doesn't bother paying full attention to her intuition when it comes to Lucifer anymore -- mostly because it usually means that he's going to come bother her. And what else was new? That's what Lucifer did, after all.]
