[He's been avoiding her, for a combination of reasons both because of her and not, but finally he decides he should go talk to her. So late afternoon have an angel at your doorway, leaning against it and saying nothing, just kind of looking at you.]

[She looks as if she was in the middle of doing something -- sorting through what's been destroyed by the ink she threw against the wall, a pile of clothing at the foot of her bed, some of it blackened, some of it not -- but it's been forgotten in favor of Rei reading through her journals. She's at the older ones, the edges of the pages yellowed, and she doesn't look up when she speaks.

It's easy to do that when you feel people coming.]

There's soup downstairs.

[It's absent, and she turns another page, because it's getting to be their dinnertime, and it's easier to focus on that than the pit in her stomach.]
